I’d really recommend reading the tweets on this tumblr.

The gist of it is that people are wondering “why” she’s black, pictured her as white and therefore believe she must have been, and are genuinely upset that Rue is black in the movie.

I’m sorry not everyone in the movie was white?

This makes me so angry. KATNISS was supposed to be black. Or at any rate she was described has having darker-toned skin. Like, wtf. aoiwejrawoeirj.

Obviously this is ridiculous because Rue/Thresh are said to have “dark satiny brown skin and golden eyes” and Katniss is described as having dark brown hair, olive skin and grey eyes. So even though Katniss wasn’t black, she wasn’t the typical “white” either. Susan Collins even goes to the trouble of saying that she DIDN’T look like her Mom/Prim who are the stereotypical beauties with blond hair, blue eyes and light skin.

Waiting in the theatre before the premier of a movie is always the worst part.
